Googled up!

Well at last I can ditch my final Microsoft product. I am retiring my Samsung Windows 7 notebook and I am thrilled to be using my brand spanking new Chromebook. I opted for the HP 11 Chromebook even though the reviews on You Tube said it was a bit slower to use than the ones from other manufacturers who use Intel processors. There must have been some decent updates in the months since the reviews were uploaded, as I do not get the lag experienced in the videos.

I have also been using a Dell Inspiron 10 for 6 years or so, and it was so slow it was painful. But immediately the HP 11 Chromebook feels right and speedy. The build quality is luxurious compared to the Dell Inspiron 10.

I am already used to and have got my mind around Google Drive and love it, and love it that my lap is not on fire as I type this. The big plus for me is that there are no "F" keys, as I never got my head around how to use them. For me the keyboard layout on the Chromebook is intuitive.

So, I am suited and booted and very happy with my HP 11, Nexus 7 and Moto G. And, I will be getting my nephew, Liam, a Chromebook in the not too distant future.

Caught "U" Kipping

As the main political parties in the UK have been guilty of sleeping and ignoring the concerns of those they represent, Nigel Farage has gained significant support by seemingly talking sense. This is something the Con-Dems and Labour cannot comprehend.

The spin-meisters and political analysts spout off about UKIP voters being either racist or ignorant working class. Well, we are the people who voted for you in the past, nice to know what you think and how you perceive us.

It really is time to stop thinking that only the political classes have an opinion that matters. Real people have felt the squeeze of corrupt bankers and politicians alike. I am not referring to having to leave the car in the garage and get a bus to work or even having to skip the cinema or theatre and watch a DVD at home. Real people in the millions are struggling to put food on the table and pay their rent and fuel bills. While some members of our society can claim payments for their homes and travel, the weakest of our society are having to pay extra just because they have a spare bedroom in their "social housing" abode.

Stop over thinking why the UK is unhappy. It's not a "protest" vote that took me to vote for UKIP. I am not a racist, so that's not why I voted for UKIP. I voted UKIP because Nigel Farage faced the real concerns of many people in this country and stood by his convictions. He is not afraid of appearing politically incorrect.

Out with the old...

I have been meaning to clear out my tech for a while now and have eventually got around to doing it. So, it's out with Microsoft and Apple and hello to Google. I am never one of the first people to update my tech, even when I worked in a mobile phone store (for 7 years) I tended to stick to my handset after it had a proven track record.

So, bye bye iPhone and hello Moto. I plumped for the Moto G and have had it for just over a month now, and use it a huge amount more than I ever used my iPhone. I was nervous about this change as I previously had tried Android in the guise of the HTC Desire.I hated that phone. But the Moto G? Love it and keep finding that I use it more every day.

Got myself a Nexus 7 (2013) and love it too. Although I've never had a tablet before, I like the plunge I have taken. And next on my list is to ditch the Windows 7 laptop I am typing this current post on. My new Chromebook will be with me very soon. Which one? I haven't made up my mind yet and may delay my decision for a couple of months as some new Chromebooks are on the way.

With using the Moto G and Nexus 7, I feel comfortable using Cloud storage and for me, I can get my head around Google Drive as my main storage option. Maybe, I'm just sick of spending more money on tech that crashes, breaks or glitches too much. For my needs, I think I'm getting things right at last.

What to blog about?

I have been making attempts to blog for a few years now, but cannot focus my mind on what to blog about.

Why should people read what I have to say? Will I sound arrogant? Does anything matter enough to write about?

When I read other peoples blogs, I imagine that they have a better life than I do. But, we all think that others have a better life than we do ourselves. The more I consider this, the more I realise that we all have an interesting life. It's what we choose to share that make us sound more interesting. What about the mundane and laborious? Well. I find those bits interesting in others as much as the exciting bits.

So, I hope to blog here about what my day is made up of and hope others find it even just a little bit interesting. I hope to give constructive thoughts on how I see things going on around me and the world.

More coming soon.

The Age Of Scammers?

As a layman in these matters, it seems that the politicians, businesses, corporations, newspapers and banks are screwing us all.

With news that Starbucks, Google and Amazon today are willing to make billions of pounds from us, yet dodge, however legally, corporation tax in the UK, but feel fine in taking the few pounds we have to spare, makes me feel sick.

Politicians recently were claiming all sorts of benefits (some illegally) and expecting people of the UK to survive on a ridiculously low income and accuse them of being scroungers. The banks were bleeding the citizens dry, got too greedy, screwed the economy and were bailed out by our taxes. Peoples houses were being repossessed but the bankers still got their huge pay and payouts. Surely, it would have been cheaper to let the banks go under and reimburse savers, and have a quicker recovery. Let the so called scroungers (that's you and me according to the Government) off with their payments? No way. They make us scroungers bail out the idiots who screwed us all and allowed them to reap the rewards for failure.

A comment a bit earlier in the year from George Osborne (UK Chancellor of the Exchequer) really boils my urine. He was referring to someone setting out for work in the morning and looking at their neighbours house and thinking about how that neighbour hadn't done a days work for years but was happy to live on benefits.

Well, that neighbour would probably love to work if the politicians had been busy representing the citizens of the country rather than looking after themselves. The neighbour in question is claiming benefits to help him survive and even just to pay his fuel bills and put food on the table. You know when the expenses list was published when MP's were claiming for extra houses, moats for duck ponds, etc., it was the ones claiming for a Kit Kat or a packet of biscuits that enraged me more. A large proportion of the UK workers are on a minimum wage, paying travel costs, treating themselves to a cup of coffee in the likes of Starbucks, and I wonder if there is any way for them to claim back a cup of coffee or two.

If you are upset, annoyed or enraged. Follow up with the action of ceasing to buy your coffee in a certain place. Find an alternative place to get your ebooks.

Half way through 2012. What is behind the Mayan Prophecy believers who say that the world will end in December this year? In the 1990's I read a book "The Mayan Prophecies : Unlocking the Secrets of a Lost Civilization", by Adrian Gilbert and Maurice Cotterell. It's 337 pages of easy reading. But, rather than think that the world will end, I got the feeling that we would be coming into an age of change. Yes the book explores physical world changes, astronomical alignments and so on, but I have a more fantastical feeling about the coming of the age of Aquarius.

I know that the world populations way of thinking is changing. We will appreciate that things cannot remain as they have for the last few decades. Attitudes are changing everyday, and for the better.

We realise that the greedy bankers and politicians must change. Uprising in countries show that people are no longer frightened enough to stay in the control of their dictator leaders. The world population is spiralling out of control. We are using the worlds resources up and finding other ways of destroying it. Fracking, getting a new mobile phone everytime a new model is launched, getting the latest fashion items. for goodness sake, we need to stop.

In the last few months here in the UK we have seen daily, different politicians, media magnates, CEO's, Bankers, Police members, doctors, journalists and so called celebs being questioned about behaviours that they think are acceptable. They really are way out of touch and appear to be the lowest form of life on earth.

The problem I have, is that they are questioning each other when they are discovered. A politician is accused by a journalist, so the police investigate it, the police don't do the job properly so the politicians investigate the police, the journalists report their disgust and themselves get investigated by the police as ordered by the politicians who seem to be in hand with the media moguls.

As individuals, we need to start demanding changes and keeping at it until the changes are implemented.

Change your bank, not your mobile phone. Cancel your newspaper and TV package, not your morals. Stay on top of your MP's as much as your finances. Think more of your family and friends than you do about celebrities. Eat for fuel, not for fun.
